Hydrosphere new launch at Seawork 2014
Hydrosphere is looking to follow up a successful Seawork 2013 with a new launch at the 2014 show - its Vega VLB-67 LED obstacle and bridge marking light. (27th May 2014)
The light is an extension of the Vega LED beacon range for applications where a wide asymmetrical vertical profile is required.
Regarding Seawork 2013, Hydrosphere UK Ltd Managing Director, John Caskey, said: “Seawork usually works well for us. Last year we noticed more visitors and increased interest in our products. We had a lot of enquiries regarding the wind turbine navigation marking solution. The offshore windfarm market is growing and we are seeing that reflected in the number of navigational aids we’re supplying.”
Available in a variety of colours, which all meet IALA chromaticity recommendation, Hydrosphere's new beacon has marine applications where an asymmetrical vertical profile would be useful in marking hazards. In these instances, it can be mounted upside down to beam the light downwards.
The beacon also supports the standard features found on Vega LED beacons including automatic Schmidt-Clausen intensity correction for short flashes, multiple effective intensity settings, day and night transition level settings synchronisation control including master/slave options and sync delay.
Monitoring can be carried out in three ways - using the Vega Mini VegaWeb internet monitoring unit, utilising the factory data port option or using the alarm/monitor connection option.
The VLB-67 is available as a self-contained unit with a long-life GEL lead acid battery, capable of being charged down to a temperature of -20C, or with a solar power pack with a large solar option for use in high latitude and high duty applications.
Another recent Hydrosphere launch on show at Seawork this year will be its new data buoy platform, the Mobilis DB 650, which can be used for a variety of inshore and estuary applications in up to 50m of water.
The DB 650 can be supplied as a hull-only assembly for customers to fit their own towers. Alternatively, Hydrosphere can supply a variety of towers to suit individual focal heights, payloads, and power requirements. The modular design makes the buoy easy to handle and transport and means it can be quickly redeployed with a different equipment configuration if required.
Mr Caskey added: “We attend many shows throughout the year and Seawork is always one of the best. Last year was a very good show for us and we look forward to returning in 2014.”
